Brothers think of what you were when you were called.
Not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were influential,
not many were of noble birth.
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise;
God chose the weak things of this world to shame the strong.
He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things
- and the things that are not -
to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before Him.
It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus,
who has become for us wisdom from God - that is,
our righteousness, holiness, and redemption.
Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."
1 Corinthians 1:25-31

I have been working on memorizing this passage, and I have finally made it to the last verse! The part in bold is what I will be committing to memory for the remainder of April.
This passage encourages us to remember what our life was like before Christ called us... and in keeping that in mind, we are reminded that we have no right whatsoever to boast before Christ. It is because of Him only that we are in Christ Jesus, who is for us our righteousness, our holiness, and our redemption. If there is anything good or praiseworthy in our lives it is a result of the work of Christ, and He alone should be praised! Our boasts should be in Him and what mighty works He has done, and nothing else.
Who are you boasting in today? Christ or yourself...

Tricia, This IS such a great reminder of all the Lord has done for us and how He can take us just as we are and make us new. We SHOULD always be boasting of HIM.
Happy WFW!
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36 Go read my story on how I got this verse.
I love your blog and love that scripture...please visit me and meet our miracle, Baby Jack.
that is so good Tricia.
I am once again late on posting my memory verses for April. Time to post two again :)
Your pic is beautiful!
I need to work on memorizing whole passages like that. That's an awesome passage! Have a great day!
Great passage Tricia! I've always loved this one. Reminds me of my last verse from earlier this month..."May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. ~ Galatians 6:14"
Blessings,
Tracy
Yes! God uses the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. Oh, I have a lot to learn!
Thank you for sharing these verses--they're some of my favorites!
I've had to use them often lately b/c false doctrines are springing up everywhere and people are following the wisdom of man instead of the wisdom of God.
Thank you for your kind comments and your twins are just such gorgeous little boys!!
Great passage! I think I need something to help me focus. I can't seem to remember anything! I think it is awesome that you continue to remember verses!
I am trying to catch up on blogs this week I am sooo behind!
